Safari Quads · Hafrafell, near Reykjavík
Safari Quads picks you up at 9:00 for 90 minutes of guided quad biking up Hafrafell, with views over Hafravatn lake and Faxaflói bay, then drives you to Sky Lagoon for the ritual. Pick it for a day with mud and warm water and no long drive: both halves are within 20 minutes of Reykjavík.

Safari Quads is based at Hafrafell, a low mountain on the eastern edge of Reykjavík. After pickup at 9:00 you get overalls, a helmet, a balaclava, gloves and rain gear, a safety talk, and then 1.5 hours on gravel and, in winter, snow trails to the top, with Hafravatn lake below and Faxaflói bay on the horizon. The quads are automatic, and most riders are beginners.
Afterwards the company drives you to Sky Lagoon, where admission with the 7-step ritual and a towel are included. The return is flexible: the listing says you can stay as long as you like. Guests who did the full day were thrilled; with only six reviews so far, though, there's less history here than on the bigger tours.
The rules matter. You need a valid driving licence to drive; without one you ride as a passenger. Price is per person, either alone on a quad or two sharing one (the shared option needs at least two adults). Passengers must be 12, the lagoon's own minimum, and zero alcohol is tolerated before the ride. Shoes are not provided, so wear sturdy ones.
Be ready from 9:00; pickup can take 30 minutes. In the centre's no-bus zones, walk to the nearest bus stop.
Overalls, helmet, balaclava and gloves at the base, then how to drive the quad.
Guided ride over gravel and, in winter, snow to views of the lake and the bay.
Shuttled across town to Kópavogur.
Wash the mud off in the ritual, then soak. The return is flexible.
★★★★★Was a little tentative this morning, looked like rain, but off we went for what ended up being two hours of spectacular scenery, wildlife, horses, challenging but fun trails, and a great guide! [...] after the ride is over you are shuttled to Sky Lagoon for the best soak, drinks and Spa experience close to Reykjavík!!!
★★★★★I never been on ATVs or drove one. I got adjusted pretty quickly and loved it. We drove through the most beautiful areas and amazing views.
★★★★★We saw the most beautiful scenery, walked on water(frozen) and loved having a super easy safe ATV to ride through rugged terrain.
