The Sky Lagoon ticket with the bus

Sky Lagoon Ticket with Return Bus from Reykjavík

About this experience

Reykjavik Excursions runs the official Sky Lagoon shuttle, and this package bundles it with your lagoon pass. A coach collects you at a bus stop near your hotel and brings you to BSÍ, the bus terminal at Vatnsmýrarvegur 10, or you walk to BSÍ yourself. From there it's a short ride along the coast to Kópavogur. The return is open: buses leave the lagoon every hour on the half hour, 12:30 to 20:30 in winter, so you leave when you're ready.

The maths is close to even. Bought separately on the official sites, a winter weekday Saman pass (ISK 14,990) plus the Reykjavík Excursions roundtrip (ISK 2,499) comes to ISK 17,489. The bundle starts at $149, about the same at the exchange rate Sky Lagoon itself uses. What you gain is one voucher and one cancellation policy; what you lose is the freedom to pick a cheaper weekday ticket on Viator's plain ticket listing and add the bus yourself.

Read the complaints before you book. The worst ones come from people whose cruise ship or flight was late: they missed the slot, were counted as no-shows and got nothing back. Others waited at the wrong stop or were told buses ran every 30 minutes, when they run hourly. If your arrival day is uncertain, book the lagoon for the next day, or take a private car instead.

  • Ticket, ritual and towel in one voucher
  • Pickup at a hotel bus stop or at BSÍ terminal
  • Open return: a bus every hour, on the half hour
  • Cruise port pickup if you choose that option
  • Wi-Fi on board

What guests say

★★★★★

If you're on the fence about whether or not to do the seven step ritual, do it! It took about 40 minutes to go through it and was incredibly special.

My husband and I went here on our first day in Reykjavík and it was amazing! If you land early, I highly recommend using the BSI (main bus terminal in Reykjavik) luggage There’s a direct bus from BSI to the lagoon.

An indulgent and pleasant experience for any one visiting Reykjavik. Transport from cruise port to bus terminal to lagoon went smoothly. Be alert that return trip is only once every hour

Tips before you book

  • Return buses run hourly, not every 30 minutes. A guest who was told otherwise waited 35 minutes in the rain and paid ISK 6,450 for a taxi.
  • Don't book this on the day your ship docks or your flight lands. Guests delayed by storms or a five-hour flight delay lost the whole price.
  • Landing early? BSÍ has luggage storage, and the coach leaves from the same terminal.
  • Note the stop name on your voucher and look for the Reykjavik Excursions livery. Drivers make several stops, so a 10-minute wait is normal.
  • Want the bus without the bundle? The official roundtrip runs to Sky Lagoon hourly from 10:00 to 18:00 in winter.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the Sky Lagoon bus leave from?

From BSÍ bus terminal, Vatnsmýrarvegur 10 in Reykjavík, a short walk from the centre. You can also choose a pickup at a bus stop near your hotel, which brings you to BSÍ first.

How often does the bus come back from Sky Lagoon?

Every hour on the half hour: 12:30 to 20:30 in winter and 11:30 to 20:30 in summer. You don't book the return; just be at the stop.

Is the ticket with transfer cheaper than buying both separately?

About the same. Separately, a winter weekday Saman pass is ISK 14,990 and the shuttle ISK 2,499. The bundle is from $149. Weekends and Sér cost more either way.

What happens if my flight is late?

Free cancellation ends 24 hours before. Guests whose flights or cruise ships ran late were treated as no-shows and not refunded, so leave a buffer day.
